The Forum is the £67.4 million landmark Millennium Project for the East of England, an imaginative and innovative partnership between the public, private and education sectors.
The project was funded by grants totalling £32.8 million from the Millennium Commission, with matching support from Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council and the business community.
The Forum project comprises the award winning Forum building and 2 Millennium Plain, which contains offices and two shops, plus the surrounding public spaces.
Today, The Forum complex is managed by The Forum Trust, an independent and self financing charity. The Forum Trust owns the leasehold on the building for 125 years, until the year 2122.
The Forum Trust does not receive a monthly allowance from the Big Lottery Fund or the Millennium Commission. We do not receive Council Tax money from local residents.
The Forum Trust acts as a landlord to the other tenants. It manages communal spaces within the building plus the Origins Visitor Centre and the car park.
The Forum Trust also puts on events for the public which animate the spaces within the complex. The Trust has minimal budget provision for such activities. Nearly £1million in cash or in kind has been generated by working with flexible partners willing to sponsor such events.
